The Gents guide

Before we begin the design process it's important to establish a realistic budget to work with. It doesn't matter whether its $5,000 or $500,000, we always want our clients to feel comfortable with what they are spending, and we will always strive to provide the best service and the highest quality production, not to mention the best value for money.

With your confirmed budget in mind, let's now think about design. More often than not guys, your partner would have dropped a few hints along the way, possibly shown you pictures online, or pointed out designs when passing a jewellery store. This can help us greatly as we can design from pictures, sketches or even descriptions. Any information you can provide us will help.

If she hasn't dropped any hints, don't fret! We can design something classic and beautiful but also unique, something we are sure your partner will absolutely love.

Before selecting a diamond, we encourage our clients to view our Diamonds page. This is to get a better understanding of the 4 Cs. Referring to a diamond's Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat, the 4 Cs provides a system for grading diamonds.

This system will help you determine which diamond will best suit your design and budget. All the diamonds we provide at Culet are 100% conflict free and are GIA certified, meaning they are the highest quality stones available on the market.

When it comes to the proposal, we always want our clients to be prepared and know how to create that special moment your partner will never forget. At Culet we get to hear all the different, amazing stories of how our customers have proposed, and would like to offer some friendly advice.

1. Make it a surprise
Even though you and your partner may have discussed getting engaged, it's important to do everything in your power to make the moment a surprise and catch her off guard. This will help add to the gravity and magic of the moment.

2. Keep with tradition
We encourage you to ask her parents for their blessing. It may not be the way of the modern era, but her parents will respect you for it. When proposing make sure you drop to one knee. This may seem cheesy and cliche, but every girl has been thinking of that moment for a long time; sometimes it's nice to follow tradition.

3. Ask for help
Sometimes it can be tricky to organize the perfect proposal set-up on your own. We suggest asking a close friend or relative to help set up; this can ease the pressure on the day and allow you to relax and enjoy the moment too.

4. Be prepared
Sometimes it helps to say the words a few times out loud, or even write them down. When the time comes, you want to come across confident!
